DEPARTMENT OF ECONOMICS – UNIVERSIDAD CARLOS III DE MADRID

The Economics Department of the Universidad Carlos III de Madrid, accredited as María de Maeztu Unit of Excellence in 2014 and 2021, is one of the most prestigious economic research centers in Spain. The quality of its scientific production places it in privileged positions in international rankings such as that of the European Economic Association, which places it in position 52 in the world, 9 in Europe and 2 in Spain, or the QS 2018 ranking, which places it in the top 50 in the world. This recognition is the result of the adoption of common professional practices in the best universities in the world: the recruitment of its teaching staff in the international market; the promotion of its teaching staff by applying rigorous standards based on scientific production and teaching work; and the development of incentives for research and quality teaching. The result of these practices is an active, dynamic and diverse faculty, trained in the best universities in the world.
